Complete Organ Works by César Franck by Torvald Torén

By KAJ-ERIK SJÖBACKA

Swedish eminent organist Torvald Torén recorded these two important volumes consisting the Complete Organ Works by the Belgian organ composer César Franck. For an organist, Franck's organ repertoire is quite small. He could also be accused for boring melodicism, a "dry" attitude to music, and for someone who lived in France, this is very rare. But it is original and expressive in its own way. Torén, who plays marvelously, recorded these works at Hedvig Eleonora Church in Stockholm, where he served as the organist for decades. It took until several years after his early death in 2001, before they were released. Now available in three different digital qualities – mp3, aac and CD Download – they are easy to buy anywhere in the world via the internet. For all enthusiasts of organ music, this is a great buy.
